| How to know what size to buy: In order to find out what size jewelry you will need, you need to use a tape measure and measure that part of your body. (ie. for a bracelet measure your wrist etc.) I suggest that you add 1/4" - 1/2" to your measurement, to make the jewelry fit more comfortably. This goes for bracelets, anklets and chokers. For necklaces I suggest you add about an inch to your measured size, or more depending on how long you want the necklace to hang down. How to take care of it: A new piece of hemp jewelry will usually be stiff at first, and remain that way until it is broken in. It will always become softer and more comfortable with age. A lot of people decide to keep their hemp jewelry on while swimming, showering etc., which is fine, but I would not necessarily suggest this because water may cause your jewelry to discolor, or cause damage to the knot pattern, (for example, blending the knot together, or causing "fuzziness") If you want your hemp jewelry to remain looking knew, you should try not to get it wet. However, if for some reason you should have to clean your jewelry, I would suggest that you use a minimal amount of quality dish soap and warm water. You should let the jewelry soak for a few minutes, (or gently wash if necessary), then rinse and lay out flat to dry. You should also be very careful when washing jewelry with beads or charms. Wood beads may warp or lose their protective seal, and other beads and pendants can also be broken if you are not careful. |
